I’m seeing more and more of autumn showing up on my morning walks. While I’m super happy about it, I’m also bummed that the farther into the year we get, the closer we come to fewer nice days, and therefore, less walks. My walks normally consist of about three miles which is just enough time to listen to one of Elise’s podcasts and get my own ideas floating around. While I am walking for exercise, I like to enjoy myself and allow stops when I see anything worth photographing or think of anything worth writing down. The more in tune to nature and the beauty of my surroundings, the more I enjoy these sweet mornings.
It’s autumn and I love it, all I can think about is perfect football weather and leaves changing colors.
I got pretty crazy with the gold sharpie but used no other supplies. And I loved the simplicity of just that little bit with a lovely sentiment from a favorite childhood book. Also, I can tell that I have been working on my handwriting, because it is getting better – faux calligraphy though? LOVE IT.
For the second page, I just drew a leaf. It started as a rough draft for an embellishment for the first page but then it got too big and I ended up finishing it instead. GOLD GOLD GOLD, I love you.
Get Messy is an art journal challenge where a gang of crafty vixens are sharing art journal pages we have created to practice our skills and push past our creative limits with hopes to inspire. We share our pages without restraint every week, and once a month we create around a prompt. Go check out these crazy talented ladies who are creating pages who each have a unique perspective and style. We will be sharing our work around social media so follow the hashtag #getmessyartjournal.
Earlier this fall, my Mom found this pin on pinterest and asked me to make something similar. I went to Hobby Lobby for the sticker/buttons and I got the paper, leaves, and wooden tiles at Michaels. This project didn’t come with a tutorial or a link to the blog where it originated, so I just made it up as I went, plus it wasn’t too hard.
I used a paper cutter to cut paper the same size as the tiles. Then I painted F-A-L-L with one letter on each tile. I decorated with a few cute buttons and hot glued some thick twine to the back to hold it up.Originally, we were going to hand this on our front door (pictured above) but my Mom liked it better against the red background, and I agree! It makes the colors pop!
This weekend was all about:
listening to Frank Sinatra Christmas radio on iTunes. Don’t judge me, it’s November.
taking it easy and sleeping a ton.
watching my tigers win – from the couch.
preparing my planner for this crazy month.
drinking hot apple cider.
feeling inspired by all kinds of Christmas decorations.
loving the color of the trees right now and the warmish weather.
thankful for family and friends.
Over the past week, I have been trying to stay off blogs and pinterest while I get my ideas together for what I want my blog to look like in the future. I am feeling a change, but I want it to be based completely on what I’m feeling and not other bloggers are doing. I have started a notebook with ideas and random thoughts and I can’t wait to share that with you. So this week, my inspiration is coming from my fall photos from the last couple of years. Check it out:
The crazy thing about these, is that I took them almost exactly a year ago. I love the fall colors and I feel like we are just starting to see leaves change around here. I have some pretty big things in store for this weekend-Phi Lamb Chapter Retreat, Cardinals/Blues/Mizzou games and studying for a test on Monday. Busy, busy, busy but I wouldn’t change a thing!
If you have any ideas of what you would like to see more of (or less of) let me know in the comments below or by email (email@example.com). Hope you all have a great weekend!
