Get Messy | 015

Happy get messy day. Last week, I had some pages ready to go right before I remembered that we had a prompt to do, so I had to set this one aside for this week.
photo 82906D30-0209-4FF6-9A2C-AA3C2C243346_zpszupx6nhn.jpg I had a hard time deciding if I was finished with this one or not. I was afraid of “ruining” it with words or anything that might make it look too busy or overwhelming. So in the end, simplicity always wins for me. photo 64B792DB-4391-4B3F-9A79-84A03743AEE7_zpsk572ezgl.jpg
I’ve really loved this quote (“Once she stopped rushing through life, she was amazed at how much more life she had time for”) for a long time. I tend to be one of those people who likes being busy all of the time, but I am learning about priorities and when I need to slow down.

For this post, I followed a prompt revolving around the theme “Who Are You?” We could use anything, except a photo of ourselves. First, I decided to make a collage to get the creativity flowing, for some reason that always helps me. I added my name and sleep right after it, because it’s pretty important.Photobucket Pictures, Images and PhotosNext, I wrote about my “Where I Stand” pictures. I have pictures all over the place of my feet in all different locations, some by myself and some including the feet of others. I really cherish these pictures and I’d eventually love to dedicate a whole art journal or photo book to all the pictures I have.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and PhotosFinally, this is one of my favorite quotes. I really love the simplicity and waves. I’m not going to lie, I kind of wished that I lived a bit closer to the ocean…I don’t know if you can get much further away than Missouri (ok…that’s probably not true, but it feels like it!).

photo IMGP0017_zpsd6b40c70.jpgLet’s be honest, I am obsessed with this project. I’ve been working in this journal for a while, so I figured I might as well finish it up before starting a new one. photo IMGP0001_zps70bb8c0b.jpg

This month’s prompt was: Let’s Have a Party.

I detailed who, what, when, where and why. Having steak tacos sounds like the single best BBQ idea that I’ve ever heard. Apparently when I was making this, I didn’t think too hard about how I would get all the flowers and the BBQ pit to the beach, but hypothetically I can do whatever I want, right?!

DIY Dorm and Apartment Decorating

As school is starting back up, I wanted to post some links to easy and inexpensive dorm and apartment decorations that I have tried in the past year!

1. Photo Line with mini washi tape clothes pins

2. Lace wrapped bulletin board. I never posted about this one, but it’s simple. Take a bulletin board that doesn’t have a frame, and wrap the front in lace fabric. Glue to the back, let it dry. Wah-lah! photo IMGP0042_zpsd3d2987e.jpg photo IMGP0073_zps7c7d0228.jpg

3. Mirror Headboard photo IMGP0050_zps7e8b4639.jpg

4. DIY paintings

Happy decorating!

Project Life 2013: Week Eight

Week eight. And the over-arching theme for this week is snow.

IMGP0012-001Here is the spread. Digging it, there was so much joy that week.

IMGP0004-001Purposely left my feet in this picture because it shows the obnoxious difference in the size of my feet (2 1/2 sizes to be exact). Anyways, I added a 8 1/2 by 11 page protector (from Walmart) with a little insert about the Lord’s Prayer that I used for prayer group this week.

IMGP0005-001(Taylor, please don’t hate me). Here is basically what we did-cards, played in the snow, face masks, and invited the ladies across the street over for dinner! Such a good time.

IMGP0009-001Here is the back of that 8 1/2 by 11 page protector. Yep, that’s me, not even ashamed about it. I’m hoping to order some of Becky Higgins’ 8 x 10 horizontal page protectors in the future but this works perfectly for now! I thought I would try it while Walgreens is having 50% off their prints (use the code fiftyoffpics until March 9).

IMGP0010-001This is probably one of my favorite spreads because of that tree picture. I absolutely LOVE the blue colors in the sky. These were taken while the boys were shoveling their drive way playing shovel baseball. After, we went to the Hyvee buffet for dinner! I had the salad/fruit bar and it was amazing!

*Total amount of snow we got was 19 inches.

Project Life 2013: Week Five

It is hard to believe we are already 5 weeks into this year.

IMGP0005Here is this week! I finally had enough photos that I got to use another little insert with the 4×4 squares. This worked out so cool because friends posted these to instagram and then I took a screen shot and they were the perfect size. Instead of writing what each day was about I made a little “Week Recap” insert that kind of summarizes what is going on in some of the photos.

IMGP0006I just had to add a screen shot from the weather app showing 70 degree weather and then snow three days later (and yes both actually happened…I was convinced that the snow would disappear from the forecast)! Also added a screen shot from a text. Still need to work on the layout of that because in my app I cannot flip it around because the phone knows that it is a screen shot and that that way is the “right way”.

IMGP0008The insert. Super love this. Love all of these wonderful people! These were from Saturday when we went to Shakespeare’s!

IMGP0012

On the top: a couple of shots from my new hobby! Bought that mat at Walmart for $8.99! Can’t beat that! Added a photo from the snow (showing my lack of height) and two at the bottom from the Super Bowl party!

Just want to throw in a quick shout out to everyone who looks at this weekly (in person or on here) and says sweet things about it—it really makes my day!

4 of 21 Photo Shoots: Downtown St. Charles

This is one of my all-time favorite places to shoot. I have done at least five shoots here in the last few years but every time I go it feels like there is something new. It is always decorated and just nice looking. I love it. Here are a few that I took the week of Christmas!Image
