Get Messy | 011

It’s amazing to me that I can think about this project for almost a week with no good ideas or inspiration and then it just hits me out of the blue on Wednesday nights. (And thank goodness it does, too!) photo 6C758720-086D-452F-A6E6-4B08BA8C5067_zpswxhpskdp.jpg I found this fall picture in one of the thousand wedding brochures that I have been handed in the past 5 months. It says, “Dear fall, please take me away. Wrap me in sweaters. Let the changing leaves fall and chai tea all day long.” photo 0C28E7B5-B544-4521-9B25-E4AFF7B33ED3_zpsbjvdefxm.jpgI am quite pleased with the simplicity of this one. You should know that I am a huge greeting card hoarder. While looking at a stack of them, I got the idea to cut out pictures from those cards. I just know that this is going to be one of my favorite up-cycling trends because it’s sentimental and gives me something to do with my lovely card pile.
photo F0497CD6-8887-41F7-B281-B9A08F8AF085_zpskckzivw9.jpg This page was made because someone told me that I am an artist. I’ve always thought of myself with separate titles (photographer, blogger, painter, art journaler) but never by this one. To me “artist” is a highly connotated word that to me feels like something to big or strong to describe what I do in this space.

Glimpses of Fall

I’m seeing more and more of autumn showing up on my morning walks. While I’m super happy about it, I’m also bummed that the farther into the year we get, the closer we come to fewer nice days, and therefore, less walks. My walks normally consist of about three miles which is just enough time to listen to one of Elise’s podcasts and get my own ideas floating around. While I am walking for exercise, I like to enjoy myself and allow stops when I see anything worth photographing or think of anything worth writing down. The more in tune to nature and the beauty of my surroundings, the more I enjoy these sweet mornings. photo 7F0FE1A4-F619-445D-A04D-B55601509BC7_zps3tulg18s.jpg photo E0726259-1732-4552-9774-3520EA1CD22D_zpscqi6udgw.jpg photo 0646B55C-F252-4DEE-B9C7-2949CD8CBC60_zps9bpnd5c1.jpg photo 4337D485-2B15-4C5B-90A0-4385BC5FC804_zpspioqaxfq.jpg photo FE5161D7-7E86-48E2-AC76-8BF92B7178DA_zpsditybgpz.jpg photo A6D8E09E-8888-4B42-9F10-7A8488E044AD_zpspeksdwxf.jpg

52 Instax

I just started this project and I’m already behind on posting about it. But don’t worry, I’m caught up in real life. And I also have a really cool instax photo album to put them all in! I’ll post more about that when it starts getting filled up.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Yep, there are exotic animals about 1 mile from my house. Too bad it was too dark by the time I took this picture.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Apparently, I have this really cool habit of taking pictures at sunset, which for this camera means that part of it is dark. In person, it turns out alright but when I photograph it for my blog posts, it ends up looking like it has no detail. I took this picture a few weeks ago on one of the back roads by my house, I LOVED the sunset that night, so I took a drive.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and PhotosThis is easily one of my favorite photos that I have taken using this camera. I really like passenger seat rear view mirror shots with the sunset in the background. Are you noticing a trend?

It’s autumn and I love it, all I can think about is perfect football weather and leaves changing colors.

photo IMGP0004-001_zps57861fac.jpg I got pretty crazy with the gold sharpie but used no other supplies. And I loved the simplicity of just that little bit with a lovely sentiment from a favorite childhood book. Also, I can tell that I have been working on my handwriting, because it is getting better – faux calligraphy though? LOVE IT.
photo IMGP0008-001_zpsc2fd9062.jpgFor the second page, I just drew a leaf. It started as a rough draft for an embellishment for the first page but then it got too big and I ended up finishing it instead. GOLD GOLD GOLD, I love you.

Hello, October

Welp, fall’s here. You know what that means…time for a whole new set of goals and pumpkin-flavored everything. I write goals for (almost) every month but the times when I actually write about them here, I feel a lot more accountable to finish them, even if I never talk about them again. Seems a bit strange, but it works!

This year, I am pumped about fall weather more than anything. Summer was always my favorite season but that nonsense ended when school did. So I picked a new season. Gosh I’m getting old.

I decided to write my goals straight in my planner this month. This Lilly Pulitzer is pure genius with all the blank space floating around…it’s the perfect place to write it and actually not lose it. Well, hopefully not. It also has just the right amount of space so that I don’t get carried away with things I would like to do, but are probably unrealistic.

As you can see, I have finally stopped putting “read a book” on my goals list because it hasn’t gotten done at all for the last 6 months so why would it now? I think I’m catching on to this whole goal writing thing, amirite?!

Life Over Lattes

Last week, I had to be at work early to learn how order new products. I went in at 7:30, instead of my typical 11. I loved it and can I just say that I was made for mornings?! I’ve basically been a morning person since I can remember, with a few rough patches during the high school years. It sounds crazy, but I come from a morning family.

One of my favorite memories is spending the night at my grandparents house. My Grandpa would get up so early to go to breakfast and he would always step on the creaky part of the floor to wake me up when he walked by my room. I would get up and go with him. We would share an omelet with cheese and ham and he would have his coffee. We’d talk and talk. When we got home, he would read the newspaper on the couch and I’d head back to bed for another hour. He’d call it “nap A”.

So, yesterday I woke up early and got productive. I have been working on some photo editing for my uncle and really needed to get those finished along with crank out some blog posts for the week, which I’d already had ideas for. I was only there for about an hour and a half, but it’s amazing what you can do with no distractions (or CATS!) and a good iced chai.

I’ve been doing Liz’s Yes, This course again and it reminded me to be still and focus on my senses.
